At a meeting in Melbourne on April 30 2017, Mr Charles Hogg, Director, Brahma Kumaris Australia, presented a new multi layered
BKA operations manual working toward structural refunctioning. For BKA management it has been a 3 year exercise and SEVEN NEW DEPARTMENTS have been created with numerous sub departments,
including state service units, local service units, special interest group sub-units, and last but not least, the National Service Team itself has its own 'VIP sub-unit'who's
task it is to attract the more famous and influential members of our community...
I recently wrote to the Head of Department of one of the seven new departments:The
People Matters Department. This Department also has its own Units
: Welfare Unit, Training and Development Unit, and Staffing Unit. The new departments have their own slogan too: A SNAPSHOT OF OUR GLORIOUS FUTURE, a phrase Chairman Mao might have been proud of.But we haven't heard that 'our
glorious future' in the promised Golden Age will have such a monster bureaucracy...quite the reverse in fact🙂
So... I put forward a proposal to The Head of The People Matters Department suggesting ( again) that BK culture might begin to move to a
vegan (so cruelty free), diet and lifestyle. I had a pleasantly swift reply from the Head of Department, but...with the suggestion that the matter should be referenced to the The Centres Network Department, which also has its own Units : BK Family Sustenance and Lifestyle Unit, Sustaining Contacts Unit, Spiritual Teaching and Learning Unit (and sub-unit) .
So anyway... my suggestion was apparently passed on from
The People Matters Department to The Centres Network Department a month ago, and somewhere in the new look BK structures and functions and units and sub-units...it seems to have got lost, in spite of the manual insisting that: "Each department will be properly resourced in terms of people, money, technology so they can do their work effectively and efficiently".🙃
Seriously though, as we mentioned at the meeting, this clunky
bureaucracy just entrenches the same old BK culture as identified above, and does little to address the central POINT 9 of the survey :
'The prevailing BK
culture is inhibiting change and disempowering structures/individuals'.😥😥
As always, however,we live in hope.🙂🙂🙂
